Hi where is the best place to stay in Kefalonia? Like Corfu a lot and been 15 times in last 20 years but need a change. Went to Pefkos Rhodes loved it. Went to Zante Tsilivi Loved it went to Sidari this year disappointed but enjoyed it. Want to go to Kefalonia, like a nice spot and 2 bedroomed apartment, will hire car but on the night like to be in walking distance of everything so hubby does not have to drive. Not too quiet, like a bit of entertainment please help!! Not too hilly as I believe Kefalonia is hillyxx<div>

We stayed in Agia Efimia but there is very little by way of entertainment. I think you may be looking more towards Skala end of the island for a more lively stay. Have also stayed in Trapezaki (many years ago) and it was very quiet then! Not positives, but probably two to rule out!

It's also quite a few years since we last went to Kefalonia, but I tend to agree with Jim that Skala might suit you. It has a gorgeous beach that's part sand and part shingle and is shaded in the middle by pine trees. When we were last there they were only just starting to develop the coast road leading out of the village towards Poros, but I think there's quite a bit of new accommodation along there nowadays that would offer you an easy (flat!) walk into the village in the evenings and whilst there are sufficient bars and restaurants to choose from in the village itself, I don't think that even nowadays it will be quite so "in-your-face" as Sidari.

We went to Skala in May. It was wonderful. Definitely would love to return. We normally stay in Kassiopi and both places have a little piece of our heart. The difference with Skala is that the tavernas are on the main street (majority) which meant you miss the views of the sea whilst having dinner. However Old Times was a particular favourite of ours and the views over to Zante were lovely. There is a great beach bar with great views too which was nice for pre-dinner drinks. The park area is great for little ones. Mixture of families, couples, ages. Lovely resort, lots of similarities to Corfu, but it has its own charm.
