Hi all just wondered if anybody on here has stayed at the Nautilus Hotel in Ipsos on an all inclusive basis, what are your thoughts on the place as me and my sister are going in June this year and I've read conflicting information?
We were there last year. It's a nice hotel, nothing fancy - basic, clean, and all we needed. Each room has a fridge, TV and toilet/shower. Air-con is available and payable in the hotel (I think it was 10 euros per day but don't quote me on that). There is no tea/coffee facilities in the rooms but we'll take our own mini kettle next time
. The pool area is lovely and the bar, dining room and reception adjoin it so during the day all is in one area.
There are 4 main accommodation 'blocks' each with a number of apartments. Three are at the pool area and one is down the hill in what was originally a separate hotel. All the accommodation involve steps from the reception area - the 2 closest have between 5 and 10 steps, the third a few more and the one down the hill is a 5 minute walk down a track. It's fine going down but can be quite steep coming back up!!
Further down the hill from the 4th apartment block they have created a multi-layered decking area with parasols and sunloungers which allow you to bathe in the sea from the hotel. The water here is too deep for non-swimmers but is lovely for snorkelling etc. There is a dive platform and steps to get back out.
All meals are served in the main dining area and again it's nothing fancy but adequate. Main meals usually consisted of 3-4 choices with large choice of salads etc as well. The menu repeats each week so could get repetetive if you're there for more than a fortnight. All-inclusive drinks are local only but the bar does serve recognised brands to purchase as well if you prefer.
The hotel itself is a half-hour walk up the main road from Barbati (probably quicker if not so hot and flat!) but the hotel runs a minibus 3 times a day into Barbati to pick up/drop off at the beach. The public bus service stops immediately outside the hotel on the main road and is great for popping into Ipsos or further to Corfu Town or Kassiopi etc.
Staff were all very helpful and friendly and couldn't do enough for us.
In one sentence - cheap and cheerful, basic but clean, worth the budget price. We certainly are planning to go back next summer.
