The Itria Valley is the home of the tulli; picturesque, conically roofed buildings that were originally used as barns as well as homes. Hotel Il Palmento is a hamlet of some thirty tulli that nestle in the heart of the valley, surrounded by ancient olive and oak trees that share the landscape with fields of corn and vineyards.

These tulli have been carefully renovated by craftsmen who have retained the original materials and structure of the buildings, but within have created twelve attractive and spacious suites that can each accommodate between 2 and 5 people.

The suites are a wealth of character and charm. Arches, alcoves and original fireplaces abound, set into the thick white painted stone walls; whilst the furnishings and accessories with their dark wood and wrought iron theme give the place a rustic and traditional feel. The accommodation in each suite includes a bathroom and separate living area. They are all equipped with satellite television, safe, mini bar, hairdryer and heating.

The hotel offers numerous services and facilities. The restaurant focuses on typical Apulian dishes, fresh fish and vegetables, local orecchietta pasta, olive oil and fine Italian wines. The club house is located the 'palmento', a building that was traditionally used for treading grapes and from which the hotel takes its name.

If relaxing is at the top of the menu the spa, massage and beauty facilities including a swimming pool complete with whirlpool sauna and Turkish bath should be just what you are looking for. Outdoors a second swimming pool, tennis court, boccia (Italian bowls), childrens' playground and playing field are located within the extensive and beautiful gardens, and bicycle rental is available for exploring the local countryside.
