Overview

View of Lakka from the villa
, Overview, Thanasis, Paxos, Agni Travel

Thanasis has its own pool and is one of a group of three semi-detached villas located on a South-facing headland, opposite the pretty harbour of Lakka. This villa is of particularly unusual design and layout, and has extensive balconies with stunning seaviews. A very pretty private pool is set just in front of the house. For those who enjoy sea-bathing, however, there are paths winding down the hillside to some wonderful beaches on either side of the headland.

We had an amazing holiday. Paxos was everything we hoped it to be - beautiful little coves and beaches crystal clear blue water wonderful weather and a very good choice of excellent tavernas. We have spent 4 or 5 holidays around Agios Stehanois and Kerasia in Corfu and were worried we would be disappointed by Paxos but we weren't

The overall standard of the property was excellent. The pool was outstanding in terms of cleanliness and setting. The provision of 2 tables meant that we could always find shade or sunshine when required. Thank you for the provision of information in the villa. We were impressed with the local shops and restaurants but spent a lot of time just sitting in the evenings and admiring the view. The team in Paxos were efficient and helpful. Thanks again Agni Travel.

It was an absolutely magic view day and night. Pure theater on the water below. The sandy, swimming beach and the tavern are excellent. We loved our little Lakka village and ate well there. Shopping for food and wine was great for when we ate at home. The little Local Bus was a terrific way to get around and see the island. Plenty of boats for hire to discover the delights of Paxos also. The week passed all too quickly. We really did enjoy our holiday at Thanasis. Its a huge property for two people and the pool is fabulous.

Places Close By

Lakka Paxos

Lakka lies in the north of Paxos at the head of a long natural inlet of the most startling shade of turquoise - reminiscent of a Caribbean bay. It is a perfect harbour and is filled with a fascinating array of yachts in summer. The village itself is small and focused almost entirely on its harbour-front, with a selection of useful shops and several good restaurants and bars, including a very good Italian restaurant. The shores of the bay are fringed with beautiful natural beaches, shaded by trees, and it is possible to walk to other, more unfrequented, beaches on the other side of the headlands: Lakka Paxos

Loggos Paxos

On an island famed for its small-scale beauty, Loggos stands out as one of the most enchanting places on Paxos. Visitors never fail to succumb to its unique charm, and many of them have been returning year after year, glad to see that the changes are negligible, and that you still have to get up from your taverna meal to let the local bus squeeze past! The boats still bob along the curve of the quayside, fascinating in their variety, from sleek yachts to less glamorous fishing boats. The tiny harbour of Loggos, colourful enough for any artist or photographer, has a refreshingly intimate atmosphere, unspoiled by the daily influx of curious visitors. At night, little can be heard but the buzz of conversation from the busy tavernas where fresh fish always tops the menu and there is an intriguingly cosmopolitan atmosphere. Three mini-markets, a bakery with wonderful fresh bread every day, and supplies of fresh fruit and vegetables brought over regularly from the mainland, make self-catering a simple matter - but who could resist the conviviality and choice of excellent food at the waterfront tavernas? A pleasant beach lies to one side of the harbour - other more secluded beaches are within easy reach: Loggos Paxos

Gaios Paxos

Gaios is the 'capital' of Paxos, the largest of the three main settlements and the only one that can be called a town, albeit a very small one. Its Venetian and British heritage is visible in the colourful buildings that line the long harbour-front. Gaios now has two harbours - the newer one is a short walk or drive from the centre, and serves as the port of call for ferries, excursion and cruise boats. It is also the setting for the often spectacular arrivals and departures of the Corfu-Paxos seaplane service. The older harbour, sheltered from the open sea by two small islands, is a never-ending source of entertainment in summer, with its plethora of cosmopolitan yachts. Gaios continues its daily business regardless of its exotic visitors, and it is this contrast that makes it so entertaining to spend an hour or more at one of the cafes in the main square alongside the quay. An intriguing variety of eating establishments, chic boutiques and old-fashioned stores make Gaios quite fascinating: Gaios Paxos
