Mention 'Alps' and many people will automatically think 'skiing' or 'snow'. Whilst they are quite right, winter sports and apres-ski are not the only reasons to visit the beautiful Dolomites.
Many visitors come not for the thrill of the piste, but to enjoy the fabulous Alpine landscapes and warm sunshine. With the advent of spring scenery changes dramatically, losing its white coat to reveal green forests and clean, crystal lakes.
The Trentino region in the heart of the Dolomites is a perfect destination during the spring and summer months. The skis may be packed away, but now hiking, walking and mountain biking become popular pastimes. Imagine walking by the stunning Lake Garda, sunlight dappling the clear waters, the backdrop of majestic, mountain peaks awash with colour. The summer months are far from chilly, and between May and September its clear waters are perfect for swimming in.
Nearby, the Adamello-Brenta national park offers further wonderful places to enjoy walking, as well as fishing, rock-climbing and horse riding, which are all readily available.
