Madonna Di Campiglio, Ski And Walks Introduction, Italy, Agni Travel

The mountain resort of Madonna di Campiglio sits at 1550 metres above sea level in a magnificent valley between the glaciers of Adamello and Presanella and the Brenta Dolomites.
The first hotel was been built there in 1868 and by the late 1880s it had been transformed into an elegant holiday resort much feted by nobility, including Princess Sissi and Emperor Franz Joseph. By the 1950s its popularity amongst skiers was such that cable car and several ski lifts were already in operation.
Today Madonna di Campiglio is one of, if not the top ski resort in Italy. It offers a huge range of trails with differing degrees of difficulty, and some of the most amazing mountain views to be found anywhere in Europe.
Stylish and very upmarket, the resort is famed for its designer boutiques, fabulous restaurants and exciting nightlife. It is the choice of famous Italians who want to be seen 'in the right places'; though this popularity doesn't stop the resort being friendly and welcoming to foreigners.
An elegant and chic holiday destination, Madonna offers a wonderful selection of activities from dog sledding and snowboarding to cross country skiing as well as plenty of apres ski to be enjoyed.

Summer Lakes And Walks

Summer Lakes And Walks, Ski And Walks Introduction, Italy, Agni Travel

Mention 'Alps' and many people will automatically think 'skiing' or 'snow'. Whilst they are quite right, winter sports and apres-ski are not the only reasons to visit the beautiful Dolomites.

Many visitors come not for the thrill of the piste, but to enjoy the fabulous Alpine landscapes and warm sunshine. With the advent of spring scenery changes dramatically, losing its white coat to reveal green forests and clean, crystal lakes.
The Trentino region in the heart of the Dolomites is a perfect destination during the spring and summer months. The skis may be packed away, but now hiking, walking and mountain biking become popular pastimes. Imagine walking by the stunning Lake Garda, sunlight dappling the clear waters, the backdrop of majestic, mountain peaks awash with colour. The summer months are far from chilly, and between May and September its clear waters are perfect for swimming in.
Nearby, the Adamello-Brenta national park offers further wonderful places to enjoy walking, as well as fishing, rock-climbing and horse riding, which are all readily available.

Torbole And Lake Garda

Torbole And Lake Garda, Ski And Walks Introduction, Italy, Agni Travel

On the northern banks of Lake Garda at the foot of Mount Baldo and close to the mouth of the river Sarca is the delightful town of Torbole. The area has been populated since pre-historic times, although more recent occupation dates back to the 15th century, when the Venetians dominated the area. This period is still very evident in the harbourside architecture. Brightly painted houses and the old Custom House date back to that time giving the place quite a Mediterranean feel.
Torbole is very popular amongst water sport enthusiasts. Motorboats are prohibited in the surrounding waters and the warm breezes make the location perfect for sailing and wind surfing. For many years it has been a popular destination for artists, inspired by the wild splendour of the area, and it remains an inspirational area for painters and photographers alike.
