Layout
Villa Sophia is laid out over the ground and lower ground floors, as it is built overlooking its own beach. The interior is finished to a very high standard, its airy and spacious rooms having a very Mediterranean feel. The ground floor comprises a large, open plan living, dining and kitchen space, and is also home to the master bedroom and its en suite. Downstairs are a further two bedrooms, each twins and both with their own en suite bathrooms.
|
Living Area
The air conditioned living area with its floor to ceiling patio doors, cool blue sofas and crisp white highlights is a comfortable place in which to relax. The large fireplace, whilst unlikely to be used, is a pleasing focal point. Through the patio doors is a sizeable covered veranda with stunning sea views. The two spaces merge seamlessly, bringing outdoors and inside together.

Kitchen
Kitchen
The warm wood tones of the copious kitchen units fuse with the black granite work surfaces, creating a modern yet very practical kitchen. In addition to sufficient working space to please even the most temperamental of chefs, the kitchen is well equipped with oven and hob, fridge/freezer, microwave, washing machine and dishwasher.
Between the living and kitchen areas is a gorgeous dining suite. Although much of your dining will probably take place outside, this stylish space may also tempt you to eat indoors from time to time.

Moggonisi Moggonisi: is really a very small island, now linked to the island of Paxos by a small causeway, flanked by a very pleasant sandy beach. Forming a beautiful and very sheltered inlet, the bay of Mongonissi is popular with yachts who have always found shelter here from wind and weather. The swimming is superb with clean clear water shelves gently making it ideal for children and inexperienced swimmers.

Gaios Paxos
Gaios is the 'capital' of Paxos, the largest of the three
main settlements and the only one that can be called a town, albeit a very
small one. Its Venetian and British heritage is visible in the colourful
buildings that line the long harbour-front. Gaios now has two harbours - the
newer one is a short walk or drive from the centre, and serves as the port
of call for ferries, excursion and cruise boats. It is also the setting for
the often spectacular arrivals and departures of the Corfu-Paxos seaplane
service. The older harbour, sheltered from the open sea by two small
islands, is a never-ending source of entertainment in summer, with its
plethora of cosmopolitan yachts. Gaios continues its daily business
regardless of its exotic visitors, and it is this contrast that makes it so
entertaining to spend an hour or more at one of the cafes in the main square
alongside the quay. An intriguing variety of eating establishments, chic
boutiques and old-fashioned stores make Gaios quite fascinating: Gaios Paxos
Loggos Paxos
On an island famed for its small-scale beauty, Loggos stands out as one of the most enchanting places on Paxos. Visitors never fail to succumb to its unique charm, and many of them have been returning year after year, glad to see that the changes are negligible, and that you still have to get up from your taverna meal to let the local bus squeeze past! The boats still bob along the curve of the quayside, fascinating in their variety, from sleek yachts to less glamorous fishing boats. The tiny harbour of Loggos, colourful enough for any artist or photographer, has a refreshingly intimate atmosphere, unspoiled by the daily influx of curious visitors. At night, little can be heard but the buzz of conversation from the busy tavernas where fresh fish always tops the menu and there is an intriguingly cosmopolitan atmosphere. Three mini-markets, a bakery with wonderful fresh bread every day, and supplies of fresh fruit and vegetables brought over regularly from the mainland, make self-catering a simple matter - but who could resist the conviviality and choice of excellent food at the waterfront tavernas? A pleasant beach lies to one side of the harbour - other more secluded beaches are within easy reach: Loggos Paxos
Lakka Paxos
Lakka lies in the north of Paxos at the head of a long
natural inlet of the most startling shade of turquoise - reminiscent of a
Caribbean bay. It is a perfect harbour and is filled with a fascinating
array of yachts in summer. The village itself is small and focused almost
entirely on its harbour-front, with a selection of useful shops and several
good restaurants and bars, including a very good Italian restaurant. The
shores of the bay are fringed with beautiful natural beaches, shaded by
trees, and it is possible to walk to other, more unfrequented, beaches on
the other side of the headlands: Lakka Paxos
