Kefalonia Arrival

Upon arrival at EFL it is a short walk to the arrivals lounge. There are a few steps up to the passport control area and the luggage reclaim is next to passport control. There are toilets in the luggage claim section. Trolleys are free of charge and situated just outside the airport doors.

Just outside the luggage collection area you will meet your Agni Travel Car Hire Representative or Taxi operator. They will have a card showing AGNI TRAVEL and your destination. The Agni Travel Car Hire office is situated by the airport gates with a private car parking area where you will collect and return your car.

If you have not pre-booked a Taxi with Agni Travel, outside the airport is the taxi rank to the left of the building as you exit. A small car park is to the right for about 100 cars.

Kefalonia Departure

Because there are only a few departure check-in desks, some airlines require their passengers to arrive at the airport at least 2.5 hours before the departure time rather than the usual 2 hours prior to departure. In some cases it has been known for them to ask you to be there 3 hours before departure. It is necessary to check with the airline agent at least 24 hours before your departure to confirm the return flight details and to reconfirm your flight when you are travelling independently.

The departure lounge is small with limited seating and only a few check-in desks. Passport control is situated next to the check-in desks. Beyond passport control there are more shops selling perfume and watches, a small cafe, duty free shop and toilets.

Airport Notes

Within the airport building there are some car hire offices, the Greek National Tourist Organisation office, jewelery shop, cafe and souvenir shop as well as toilet facilities.
There is a public telephone.

Just outside the airport gates you will find more car hire companies and the Ikarus Cafe which serves drinks and snacks and has a swimming pool. From here you have a good view of the airport runway. Within the airport grounds is a small car park and some lawned gardens with shaded areas and public benches.

Note: There is no left luggage office at the airport.

Kefalonia (airport code EFL) airport was built in the 1970's and is situated 9 kms from the island's capital Argostoli.

There is one runway measuring 2440 x 45m , which makes it suitable for most types of plane and it also has parking area of 23000 square metres for planes and an additional parking area for small aircraft.
